His adoptive mother and grandmother-in-law is Wendy Darling, who at the time of the film is an elderly woman known in London for her many years of work with orphans. </del>Peter Banning loves his family, and provides for them financially, but his work take up <del class="diffchange diffchange-inline">mosts </del>of his time, so he tends to neglect spending <del class="diffchange diffchange-inline">much time </del>with them, and especially fails to connect with his children. He has very much "grown up" <del class="diffchange diffchange-inline">and has repressed his memories as Peter Pan. When Peter and his family travel to London to visit Wendy, his children are kidnapped by Captain Hook who leaves Peter a note telling him that his presence is required at the request of Jack and Maggie. After a failed attempt by Wendy to make Peter remember who he once was, Tinkerbell greets him and takes him to Neverland where he tries to rescue his children on the Jolly Rodger where they are being held captive but is unsuccessful and is almost forced to walk the plank before Tinkerbell convinces Hook to give her three days to retrain Peter. However, Peter is accidently knocked overboard but is saved from drowning by Mermaids and is brought to the home of the Lost Boys who don't believe that he is Peter Pan. He is subsequently confronted by Rufio, who succeeded Peter Pan as leader of the Lost Boys following his departure from Neverland. Rufio initially wants to kill Peter for being a grown up since all grown ups are pirates in Neverland and refuses to believe that Peter is their former leader. Pockets, a fellow lost boy, catches a glimpse of Peter Pan in Peter's eyes and Rufio reluctantly agrees to retrain him. During his training, Peter loses much weight and learns how to use a sword. At an imaginary banquet, Peter is frustrated by the lack of food and is mocked by Rufio who provokes him into a name-calling match. The two exchange insults back and forth until Peter gains the upper hand and the Lost Boys begin to cheer for Peter, who taunts Rufio by imagining flinging food at him from a spoon which, to everyone's surprise, comes to life and hits Rufio in the face. Peter and the boys go back to eating while Rufio flees in jealousy. When they all get into a food fight, Rufio grabs a coconut and angrilly throws it at Peter, who manages to slice it in half with a sword to the amazement of the Lost Boys. Peter is heartbroken when he realises that Jack has come to see Hook as a father figure during a baseball game which Hook set up for him, and becomes determined to learn how to fly. He comes across his former underground home which had been burnt down by Hook after he left Neverland, and finds Tinkerbell waiting for him. It is here that he recalls his past adventures with Wendy, John and Michael. After finding his old teddy bear he had as an infant, he comes to remember his mother and the reason he decided to leave Neverland and grow up: he fell in love with Moira and wanted to be a father, the latter being his happy thought which grants him the ability to fly and he becomes Peter Pan once again. The Lost Boys are ecstatic to have their old leader back and an amazed Rufio gives Peter the Pan sword. That evening, Peter witnesses Tinkerbell transform into human size having had her wish to grow bigger granted and she kisses him, telling Peter she loves him but he turns her down as he is in love with Moira and must rescue his children. Tinkerbell understands, returning to her original form, and Peter and the Lost Boys prepare for battle against Hook and the pirates. During the battle, Peter is able to rescue Maggie. Rufio is killed in a duel with Hook and dies in Peter's arms after admitting to Peter that he wished he had a father like him. Jack witnesses this and sees through Hook's lies, reuniting with Peter, who clashes swords with Hook one last time. After a long duel, Peter manages to disarm Hook but as he is about to kill him, Jack and Maggie convince him that he can't hurt them anymore, and Peter demands that Hook and take his ship and never return. Just as the three are about to leave, Hook pulls a dagger from under his sleeth and pins Peter against the deceased crocodile that had eaten his hand. As Hook prepares to kill Peter with his hook, he is stopped by Tinkerbell, and Peter drives the hook into the crocodile which seems to come back to life and eats Hook alive. Peter says his goodbyes to the Lost Boys and passes on leadership to Thud Butt as he is the biggest of the boys. Back in London, he and Tinkerbell bid farewell to one another and Peter reunites with his family and Wendy, now commited to spending more time with them and they witness Tootles fly to Neverland after his marbles turn into fairy dust and grant him the ability to fly. Wendy remarks that Peter's adventures are now over, but Peter insists that to live would be an awfully big adventure too</del>.

+

Peter Banning loves his family, and provides for them financially, but his work take up <ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline">most </ins>of his time, so he tends to neglect spending <ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline">any </ins>with them, and especially fails to connect with his children. <ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline"> </ins>He has very much "grown up".

His adoptive mother and grandmother-in-law is Wendy Darling, who at the time of the film is an elderly woman known in London for her many years of work with orphans. </ins>Peter Banning loves his family, and provides for them financially, but his work take up <ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline">mosts </ins>of his time, so he tends to neglect spending <ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline">much time </ins>with them, and especially fails to connect with his children. He has very much "grown up" <ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline">and has repressed his memories as Peter Pan. Wendy remarks that Peter's adventures are now over, but Peter insists that to live would be an awfully big adventure too</ins>.

Rhys Ifans (born Rhys Owain Evans, July 22, 1967) is a Welsh actor and musician, who played Captain Hook in the 2011 Syfy film Neverland. He is known for his portrayal of characters such as Spike in Notting Hill and Jed Parry in Enduring Love and as a member of the Welsh rock groups Super Furry Animals and The Peth.

Early life
Ifans was born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales. His first language is Welsh and he has said that he began using the Welsh spelling of his last name, "just to be difficult".

Ifans grew up in Ruthin, North Wales, and received his primary education at Ysgol Pentrecelyn, where his mother worked, before attending Ysgol Maes Garmon, a Welsh language secondary school in Flintshire. He also attended youth acting schools at Theatr Clwyd and trained at The Royal Scottish Academy.

Career
In 1990, Ifans presented Sdwnsh (Welsh for "Mash"), an anarchic children's quiz show, broadcast on Welsh language TV channel S4C.

Ifans appeared in many Welsh television programs before embarking on his film career, as well as performing at the Royal National Theatre, London and the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.

He was briefly lead vocalist of the rock band Super Furry Animals before they found national success.

After his role as Jeremy Lewis in the Swansea-based movie Twin Town (1997), he gained international exposure in his role as the slovenly roommate Spike in the British film Notting Hill (1999). According to the DVD commentary, Ifans did not wash or brush his teeth, in preparation for the role. He played Adrian, the pompous eldest brother in Little Nicky (2000).

His film roles include: Eyeball Paul in Kevin and Perry Go Large (2000), Nigel in The Replacements (2000), Iki in The 51st State' (2001), William Dobbin in Vanity Fair (2004) and Vladis Grutas in Hannibal Rising (2007). He played Jed Parry in the film version of Ian McEwan's Enduring Love and the lead role in Danny Deckchair (2003) as Danny Morgan.

In 2002 he gained some controversy in the British media for his alleged support of Welsh nationalist group Meibion Glyndŵr, a militant group who support violence against English home owners in the Welsh heartlands.

In 2005, Ifans picked up a BAFTA for his critically acclaimed portrayal of comedian Peter Cook in the TV film Not Only But Always. Later that year he made a guest appearance for the rock band Oasis in the video for their single "The Importance of Being Idle" for which he accepted their award for Video Of the Year at the 2005/2006 NME Awards. This was not Ifans's first foray into the world of music videos: he has also made appearances in the music videos for "God! Show Me Magic", and "Hometown unicorn" by the Super Furry Animals, "Mulder & Scully" by Catatonia, and "Mama Told Me Not To Come" by Tom Jones and the Stereophonics.

In December 2006, he returned to the London stage for the first time since 2003 in Michael Grandage's production Don Juan In Soho at the Donmar Warehouse. He had appeared previously at the Donmar in 2003's Accidental Death Of An Anarchist. Earlier stage work includes Hamlet at Theatre Clwyd, A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Regent's Park Theatre and Under Milk Wood and Volpone at the Royal National Theatre.

On 16 July 2007, he received an Honorary Fellowship from Bangor University in north Wales, for services to the film industry.

Since 2007 Ifans has sung with Welsh psychedelic rock band The Peth (Peth is Welsh for "Thing"), featuring Super Furry Animals' Dafydd Ieuan, which played a number of concert dates in South Wales and in London in the autumn of 2008.

Ifans will play Xenophillius Lovegood, editor of the wizarding magazine The Quibbler and father of the eccentric Luna Lovegood. He will be playing Howard Marks, the real person who was released from prison for helping illiterate criminals to read and write so they could get an education behind bars. He played a villain in Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang.

+

<ins class="diffchange diffchange-inline"><blockquote>Raised on the streets of turn-of-the century London, orphaned Peter (Rowe) and his pals survive by their fearless wits as cunning young pickpockets. Now, they've been rounded up by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Ifans) to snatch a priceless--some believe, magical--treasure which transports them to another world. Neverland is a realm of white jungles and legendary mysteries of eternal youth, where unknown friends and enemies snatched from time welcome the new travelers with both excitement and trepidation. These groups include a band of 18th century pirates led by the power-mad Elizabeth Bonny (Friel), and the Native American Kaw tribe led by a Holy Man (Trujillo), which has protected the secret of the tree spirits from Bonny and her gang for ages - and that has meant war. But as the fight to save this strange and beautiful world becomes vital, Hook, Peter, and the ragamuffin lost boys consider that growing old somewhere in time could be less important than growing up, right here in their new home called Neverland. </blockquote></ins>
