Peter Pan: Return to Never-Never Land
From Neverpedia
Peter Pan: Return to Never-Never Land was a two-issue comic book series published in the United States in 1991. It was published by Malibu Comics – one of several companies briefly successful in the booming comics market of the period – under the imprint "Adventure Comics", an apparent attempt to produce a line of comics for school-age kids.
The series was set in the present day, and featured Jerry and Mike, two African-American kids living in Roxbury, Massachusetts. They are rescued from a gang by Peter Pan, then brought by him and Tinker Bell to the island of Never-Never Land, where they promptly encounter Captain Hook and the Indians. In the end, Peter returns them to Roxbury, with the promise that they can return some day.
The art by Gary Kato is clean and bright, and the dialog by writer Ron Fortier tries to straddle a line between "modern" and "all ages"; when the (multi-ethnic) gang knocks him down, Jerry yells "holy spit!"
