Peter Banning
From Neverpedia
Peter Banning is Peter Pan's identity outside of Neverland in the 1991 film Hook. He is played by Robin Williams, who was also 40 years old at the time. Peter is a ruthlessly successful mergers-and-acquisitions lawyer with a wife Moira and two kids: Jack and Maggie. His adoptive mother and grandmother-in-law is Wendy Darling, who at the time of the film is an elderly woman known in London for her many years of work with orphans.
Peter Banning loves his family, and provides for them financially, but his work take up most of his time, so he tends to neglect spending any with them, and especially fails to connect with his children. He has very much "grown up".
He adopted the surname Banning when he left Neverland, and was adopted by "Granny Wendy". Many people mishear the character's surname as Panning, since it's obviously derived from Pan, but if you listen closely (or read the credits), you can confirm that it's Banning. Think about it: if Peter Llewelyn Davies had so much trouble being called Peter Pan all his life, just think how thin a disguise the name Peter Panning would be.
