The Walt Disney Company (often simply known as Disney), is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world, known for its family-friendly products. Founded in 1923, by brothers Walt and Roy Disney as an animation studio, it has become one of the biggest Hollywood studios, and owner and licensor of eleven theme parks, a cruise ship line, several television networks (including ABC and ESPN), Pixar Animation, and Marvel Comics.

Disney has had a long history of association with Peter Pan. Walt wanted early on to get the rights to adapt Barrie's story in animated form, which was eventually realized with the 1953 film Walt Disney's Peter Pan, probably the single best-known interpretation of the character and the story. As part of the "classic Disney" portfolio, the characters of Peter Pan and especially Tinker Bell have come to be treated like Disney properties, appearing in merchandise, spin-off media, and appearances. For years, Tinker Bell was a weekly feature of Disney's Wonderful World of Disney TV program.
