Rekollekshuns of a Skoolmaster

Rekollekshuns of a Skoolmaster is the oldest surviving work by J. M. Barrie. Published in an unofficial Dumfries Academy magazine titled The Clown (#4) in August 1875, it was written by Jamie at the age of 15. The grammar and spelling mistakes are (rather obviously) intentional; this is a student making fun of the local authority figure, you know. The magazine was edited by his friend Wellwood Anderson, and wasn't so much "published" as it was passed around the school, with four issues from May thru August. "Wedd"'s father owned a bookshop, which must have been a real treat for young Jim. They remained close their whole lives.
