Hook is a graphic novelization by Charles Vess and various artists, of the Steven Spielberg film of the same name. It was published by Marvel Comics, who serialized it in four parts.

The cover dates were "early Febuary 1992" through "late March 1992", which reflect actual shipping dates of December and January, on a bi-weekly schedule; the movie was released on December 11. The comics industry had operated for decades on the model of ongoing periodicals, and standardized on 32-page pamphets, so even an 80-page story intended to be released "at the same time as" a movie had to be doled out in chunks, in this case at a twice-a-month shipping schedule. It was later reprinted in a single volume, which also featured a fully painted cover by Vess rather than flat colors over his inks, as on the four issues.

The interior art was done by an unusually large team (up to 4 pencilers per issue, up to 6 inkers, even 2 colorists), suggesting that they only had a few weeks in which to work, between receiving the source material (presumably the script and cast photos) and going to press. In addition to Vess writing, the credits are:

  • pencils: Anna Maria Cool, Craig T. Hamilton, Ray Lago, Gray Morrow, John Ridgway, Denis Rodier
  • inks: Rick J. Bryant, Kim DeMulder, John Lucas, Dan Panosian, Andrew J. Pepoy, Rodier, Kevin M. Tinsley, Vess
  • colors: Ed Lazellari and Kevin M. Tinsley
  • letters: Michael Heisler.
