George Lucas (born May 14, 1944) is an Academy Award-nominated American film producer, screenwriter, director and founder/chairman of Lucasfilm Ltd. He is best known for being the creator of the epic science fiction franchise Star Wars and joint creator of the archaeologist-adventurer character Indiana Jones. Today, Lucas is one of the American film industry's most financially successful independent directors/producers, with an estimated net worth of $3.0 billion as of 2009.
Although he is possibly better known as director, writer, and producer, he has had a handful of cameo appearances on screen, including a brief uncredited appearance with Carrie Fisher in the movie Hook, directed by his friend and collaborator Steven Spielberg. As Tinker Bell carries the unconscious Peter Banning to Neverland, they fly over Westminster Bridge (passing Big Ben, which every movie set in London is required by law to depict). Tink's fairy dust sprinkles on a man and woman who are kissing on the bridge, and they begin to float into the air.
